“On Monday, Assemblyman Kevin Rooney, R-Wyckoff, said he intends to introduce a pair of bills designed to push back against the FCC’s action. One bill would require Internet providers to commit to providing at least broadband service to its entire service area before allowing paid prioritization of content; the other would require cable companies to provide their fastest Internet available to municipalities for free.
“The public should not be held captive to partitioned Internet access and faster content. The Internet has become a public utility, and access should remain unfettered,” Rooney said in a statement. “
